A total of 8,800 concertgoers in Japan, South Korea, and China enjoyed the Lucerne Festival Orchestra on its first international tour with Music Director Riccardo.
With great success the Lucerne Festival Orchestra ended its first-ever tour with Music Director Riccardo Chailly in China at the 国家大剧院 – National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing:
The highlight and at the same time the conclusion of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra tour were the concerts at the 国家大剧院 – National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing. The city offers a manifold of impressive cultural sights:
The end of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra tour, under the baton of Music Director Riccardo Chailly and with works by Richard Strauss, will take place on 14/15 October at the National Centre for the Performing Arts in Beijing.
That’s the way how an orchestra celebrates their „birthday children“ during a tour. A special birthday „brass“ serenade was played for Florian Abächerli, Maria Kagan, Raphael Christ and Raymond Curfs – who celebrated their birthday on the Lucerne Festival Orchestra tour through Asia:

After the concerts in Tokyo and Kawasaki, the tour then continued on to Kyoto. At the Kyoto Concert Hall Richard Strauss‘ Thus Spoke Zarathustra, Op. 30, Death and Transfiguration, Op. 24 and Till Eulenspiegel’s Merry Pranks, Op. 28 were on program.
